For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” Romans 14(17)

Men and women pursue various avenues of employment, social outreach and pleasure. In so doing, the personal satisfaction and happiness they long for fails to materialize as expected.

Even in the realm of the ministry and the work of God, sometimes people may ask the question, “Where is the joy?” They experience the material and financial blessings but are still coming up short in the area of joy and happiness. The reason is that true and full joy is not found in the material and financial areas of life.

Joy in the highest degree is only received in our walk with the Lord and our faithful service unto Him. We experience the fulness of joy in His presence. “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalms 16(11)joyful man

Joy comes to those who walk uprightly before the Lord. They desire to please God in their words and actions. They find it a joyful thing to do right. “It is joy to the just to do judgment.” Proverbs 21(15)

The scriptures teach us there is joy in heaven when a sinner repents. “I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.” Luke 15(7) The joy of the soul-winner is an enduring joy that has eternal rewards.

Where is the joy? Real and lasting joy is experienced in God’s presence and in a dedicated and consecrated life of faithful service unto Him.

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12(2)
